A Perspective Case Study on Performance, Problems & Prospects of Islamic Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL)

This study has emphasized to examine the performance, problems & prospects of Islamic Banking in Bangladesh based on interest-free investment of customers and entrepreneurs. To analyze the performance data have been collected, eight financial ratios as well as growth rate analysis, coefficient of correlation calculation, Regression analysis and Hypothesis test have been used to get the real picture. It has observed that the performance of conventional commercial banks were better than that of Islamic banks but the progress of Islamic banks were excellent in performance in last four years. The customers of IBBL are satisfied with general services and highly satisfied with products/services. Islamic banks in Bangladesh can provide efficient and effective banking services provided appropriate banking laws and regulations exists. These will accelerate them to introduce PLS modes of operations, which are very much conducive to economic development. Islamic banking would be more efficient in operation if Islamic banks had got the opportunity to work in a liberal sole system in an economy. Islamic banking system has tremendous opportunity to utilize fully its potentials to render services to customers in a greater arena
