Book Review : Symeon C. Symeonides, American Private International Law

A review of Symeonides's book which provides a brief presentation of private international law (PIL) in the United States, intended for foreign readers who are generally familiar with basic PIL methodology, concepts, and norms. Originally, the book was published as part of Kluwer's “International Encyclopedia of Laws – Private International Law”. However, it deviates substantially from the general structure of contributions to that Encyclopedia, placing instead a clear emphasis on the special characteristics of American conflict of laws, as the subject is known in the United States.The book clearly satisfies the author's purpose to introduce readers outside the United States to conflict of laws in the United States. It is written clearly and concisely, highlighting the most important aspects of the subject, and providing the reader with a very fine idea of its peculiarities
