Business ethics and Irish management: A cross-cultural study
In this article, Siobhan Alderson and Andrew Kakabadse undertake the first formal study of Irish attitudes to ethics in business. Some 930 senior managers in the Republic of Ireland, UK and the US are surveyed, and Irish attitudes compared with those in the UK and US. Four key areas are examined: attitudes towards implementing ethics in business, influence of top management and peer behaviour, attitudes towards ethical issues in business, and perceptions of responsibility towards key stakeholders in business. The authors make prescriptions to increase awareness of ethics in business by Irish managers.
