Capital Intelectual y Otros Determinantes de la Ventaja Competitiva en Empresas Exportadoras de la Zona Norte de Honduras (Intellectual Capital and Other Determinants of Competitive Advantage in Exporting Companies in the Area North of Honduras)

English Abstract: The objective of this research is to analyze the intellectual capital and other determinants of competitive advantage in exporting companies in northern Honduras, from two perspectives: the theory of resources and capabilities, and the theory of the firm based on the knowledge. At the end of the hypothesis test data were used by probit regression. The evidence found indicates that having more intellectual capital, the seniority of the exporting company, the size and degree of requirement of the destination country, they are relevant variables that influence in a positive way the level of competitive advantage. It is believed that the results contribute to the literature on the level of competitive advantage in exporting firms in developing countries being the first work of this kind in Honduras. As a future line of research must be carried out an identification, classification and measurement of intellectual capital and competitive advantage, both variables measured longitudinally.Spanish Abstract: El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar el capital intelectual y otros determinantes de la ventaja competitiva en empresas exportadoras del norte de Honduras, desde 2 perspectivas: la Teoría de los recursos y capacidades y la Teoría de la empresa basada en el conocimiento. A fines de testear las hipótesis se usaron datos mediante regresión probit. La evidencia encontrada indica que tener mayor capital intelectual, la antigüedad de la empresa exportadora, el tamaño y el grado de exigencia del país de destino son variables relevantes que influyen de manera positiva en el nivel de ventaja competitiva. Se considera que los resultados obtenidos contribuyen a la literatura sobre el nivel de ventaja competitiva en empresas exportadoras de países en desarrollo, siendo el primer trabajo de este tipo realizado en Honduras. Como futura línea de investigación se debe efectuar una identificación, clasificación y medición del capital intelectual y la ventaja competitiva, ambas variables medidas de forma longitudinal
