Comercio sexual a partir de los viajes y el turismo
El estudio busca identificar y comprender la problemática del comercio sexual en relación con los viajes y el turismo y diseñar un modelo de prevención, para lo cual se toma como caso de estudio piloto Cartagena, Distrito Turístico y Cultural, en el entendido que no es el único destino que plantea tal problemática en el país y que el modelo de prevención formulado deberá tener una amplia aplicación para lograr que Colombia sea un destino de clase mundial con una amplia acogida en el escenario turístico, regido por principios de sostenibilidad. El marco conceptual de la problemática del comercio sexual con un enfoque sociocultural y el análisis de acciones en el contexto mundial y latinoamericano para la prevención de este fenómeno en la actividad turística permiten formular propuestas a los sectores público y privado para el control este riesgo social generado por los movimientos turísticos. Resulta notable la preocupación de organismos nacionales e internacionales en torno a la defensa de los derechos y la dignidad de los menores de edad en materia de explotación sexual, así como la búsqueda de estrategias y acciones que permitan ejercer un control en torno a las difíciles circunstancias vividas por las personas objeto de trata o de sujeción forzosa o involuntaria a cualquier tipo de actividad laboral. En forma particular los principios del Código Ético Mundial para el Turismo generan un marco de referencia para el desarrollo responsable y sostenible del turismo mundial. La pobreza no es un asunto exclusivo de los pobres, sino que involucra a toda la sociedad en su conjunto; es pobre una sociedad que no transmite valores conducentes a su propia sostenibilidad, así como aquella que es ajena al propósito de ampliar el espectro de oportunidades y capacidades hacia todos los sectores de su comunidad. Las diversas formas de pobreza se expresan en dinámicas sociales distorsionadas de las expectativas y el potencial de una territorialidad local en el ejercicio de cualquier actividad, las cuales tienen su impacto sobre las identidades socioculturales y la imagen del destino.
