Deutsche Direktinvestitionen in Nordwestengland - ein Beitrag zur Globalisierungsdebatte
In der Globalisierungs- und Standortdebatte wird zunehmend postuliert, dass es nationale Sonderwege in Wahl von Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungspolitik und der Institutionalisierung der Arbeits- und Tarifsysteme nicht mehr gebe - die Mobilität insbesondere des Kapitals führe letztendlich zur globalen Durchsetzung flexibler Arbeits- und Tarifsysteme a Ia USA, wenn nicht eine breite Abwanderung von Produktionsstätten und Arbeitsplätzen in Kauf genommen werden soll. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie widersprechen dieser neoliberalen Interpretation der Globalisierung anhand der Untersuchung deutscher Direktinvestitionen in Nordwestengland: Sie haben die Beschäftigung in Deutschland mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit gesichert oder sogar erhöht und es zeigt sich zudem eine klare Prägung der Arbeits- und Tarifbeziehungen in den deutschen Tochterunternehmen, die Merkmale des 'deutschen Modells‘ widerspiegeln.
