The analysis of Israel's foreign trade performance shows that after several years of decline in certain export branches, a turnaround point may have been reached. While final figures for 1985 were not available when the article was written, indications are that Israeli imports were rather smaller in 1985 than in 1984 while exports were larger, their overall result being an anticipated modest but real reduction in the balance-of-trade deficit.
