Economic Effectiveness of Education
The problem of increasing the effectiveness of social production in every way possible acquires the utmost importance given the present conditions of development of the socialist economy and the primary economic target of securing the uninterrupted betterment of the people's living standard. The report of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to the Twenty-fifth Party Congress emphasizes that "the stress on effectiveness is an integral part of our entire economic strategy." In this connection economic science has the responsibility of promoting the further elaboration of theoretical and practical problems involved in increasing the effectiveness of all branches of the national economy, including the nonproductive branches that have begun to occupy an important place in economic and social progress. Among them is education â a branch in which the elaboration of the problems of effectiveness becomes particularly urgent under present conditions.
