Efficience et Productivité des Banques Commerciales Marocaines : Approche non Paramétrique
This paper proposes a nonparametric analysis of the performance of Moroccan commercial banks. The first part of this study focuses on the determination of technical efficiency scores using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). These scores are decomposed on « pure efficiency » and «technological progress » according to Malmquist index. For the studied period (1993-2006), we find a mitigate evolution of the efficiency for the considered banks. It was quite good for some of them and bad for others. This non conclusive evolution is more related to technological progress than internal performance. We finally use a regression models who confirmed the earlier findings. The levels of efficiency achieved are more related to internal variables to banks than environmental factors.
