Evaluarea volumului de lemn destinat recoltării și implicațiile acesteia asupra calității exploatărilor forestiere
In Romania, logging activities are considered as part of silviculture field since many years ago. Although many rules and regulations have emphasized the obligations of protecting the remaining standing trees, young regeneration layer as well as forest soil when logging, such undesired effects are present regularly in logging areas. In this context, the paper outlines the influence of tree marking (for thinning and silvicultural systems) on the quality of logging. Starting from the way tree marking is performed in various situations, the paper proposes the obligations to (i) mark the skidding trails before the beginning of tree marking, followed by the removal of the trees existing inside such trails before the marked trees, (ii) use the logging principles when marking the trees based on silvicultural prescriptions, as well as (iii) to select and paint final crop trees, an operation providing the loggers the opportunity to locate and protect them during timber harvesting.
