Jamming configurations for irreversible deposition on a square lattice
Irreversible deposition of various shapes on the square lattice is studied by Monte Carlo simulation. Shapes are made by directed self-avoiding walks on the lattice. The jamming coverage θ(∞) decays exponentially with the size s of the depositing objects, for small values of s. For deposition of two-component mixtures of small shapes we also suggest exponential decay of θ(∞) with the length of the walk which makes the shape. Jamming configurations consist of clusters of inaccessible sites and of domains of parallely deposited objects (for elongated shapes).
