Les départements d’Outre-Mer face aux défis du vieillissement démographique et des migrations
La population des quatre départements français d'Outre-Mer (DOM) est plus jeune que celle de la métropole : en 2006, 35 % des habitants de La Réunion avaient moins de 20 ans, 31 % en Guadeloupe, 29 % en Martinique et 45 % en Guyane, contre 25 % en métropole. Mais la population y vieillit paradoxalement plus vite sous les effets combinés de l'allongement de la durée de vie, la diminution des naissances et l‘émigration des jeunes actifs (hommes et femmes). D'ici 2030, on prévoit un doublement de la part des plus de 60 ans dans les trois îles. Le chômage et la précarité de nombreux actifs font craindre des conditions difficiles pour les futurs retraités qui risquent de ne pas pouvoir bénéficier autant qu'aujourd'hui de la solidarité familiale.
