Neue Produktionskonzepte, wie Lean Production, versprechen neue Chancen zur Steigerung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Industrie. Den betrieblichen Erfolgen der neuen Konzepte stehen jedoch auch Risiken gegenüber. Deshalb ist eine Bestandsaufnahme für Politik und Wirtschaft von Bedeutung. Das ISI legt mit dieser Studie eine Abschätzung der Verbreitung und der noch bestehenden Einsatzpotentiale der verschiedenen Elemente neuer Produktionskonzepte vor. Die Ursachen für vermeintliche oder tatsächliche Rückstände werden analysiert und um eine Übersicht über Chancen und Risiken ergänzt
