Social Intelligence Networks. A Novel Framework for On-Line Social Platforms

The explosion of new and pervasive information technologies we witness in the recent years implies that all citizens of the world are potentially only one click away from each other. This comes, however, both with promises and challenges. On the one hand, one may think that it is today easier than ever to get people organized towards common endeavours. On the other hand, most existing ICT social platforms do not go beyond the functionality of enabling users to stay connected with friends or by helping commerce to make advertisement more targeted. When it comes to local and global challenges, it is legitimate to ask whether citizens are acting even more in isolation than in the former times when social networks existed only off-line. As a result, there is no significant progress in the face of critical issues requiring the coordination of millions of people, such as climate change, financial stability, sustainable development. The general goal of this novel framework is to provide citizens with an independent tool that enables them to coordinate their knowledge and action for a better world. More specifically, the Social Intelligence Network is a new conceptual framework designed to overcome important current limitations of online social platforms. The idea is to create a single virtual place where individuals' actions (e.g. voting, purchasing, investing) co-evolve with their value sets and knowledge.
