Terremoto y sus efectos sobre el bienestar: un análisis multidimensional
Utilizando datos de panel, especialmente recogidos para evaluar los efectos del terremoto de 2010 ocurrido en Chile, se analiza el impacto del terremoto sobre la pobreza multidimensional. Se miden privaciones en cinco dimensiones: educación, salud, vivienda, ingresos y trabajo, y se usa el indicador de Alkire y Foster (2007) para construir un indicador agregado de pobreza multidimensional. El análisis se realiza sobre tres grupos etáreos: niños, adultos y ancianos. Usando diferencias en diferencias se analizan las transiciones de privación en las cinco dimensiones antes y después del terremoto, en zonas afectadas y no afectadas. Los resultados indican que el sismo afectó negativamente en términos de pobreza multidimensional agregada a la población infantil y adicionalmente se ve afectada también la población de adultos mayores en la dimensión salud.
