Today's world has many untold truths, and unethical practices hidden behind the beautiful and glamorous clothes that people wear, especially during cotton production. Cotton can be found everywhere. It is in clothes, bed linens, towels, "furniture, tablecloths, curtains, toys such as dolls and stuffed animals, yarns for knitting and crochet, seats for cars, trains and airplanes, tents, awnings, fishing nets, ropes, and explosives" (Variety of Cotton Products). Yet, while it may be comfortable, it is the definition of pure evil. Most cotton used in households is classified as a Genetically Modified Organism (GMO), with severe health impacts for the planet, workers, and consumers alike. Scientists genetically re-wired cotton to allow for a greater yield of cotton for farmers in the same amount of space as before to maximize profits. Luckily, there is organic cotton, which is produced ethically. In this essay, the impacts of GMO cotton and compared to organic cotton will be analyzed
