Przedmiotem analizy jest korelacja integracji europejskiej i wlaczania Niemiec w proces wspolpracy w Europie. Zwracamy uwage, ze ksztalt integracji europejskiej po II wojnie swiatowej zostal zdeterminowany przez utworzenie w 1951 r. Europejskiej Wspolnoty Wegla i Stali (EWWiS), ktora pozwolila poddac przemysly weglowy i stalowy panstw czlonkowskich, w tym Niemiec, regulom wspolnego rynku, zeby zapewnic trwaly i zharmonizowany rozwoj, a zarazem uniemozliwic niekontrolowany rozrost kompleksu wojskowo-przemyslowego wzrost produkcji na potrzeby wojska i zmniejszyc prawdopodobienstwo wybuchu kolejnej wojny. Nastepnie – po poglebieniu wspolpracy (objeciu nia nowych obszarow) – powstaly wspolnoty europejskie (EWG, Euratom), ktore stanowia fundament instytucjonalny obecnej Unii Europejskiej. Szukanie podobienstw i roznic prowadzi nas do obecnego etapu integracji europejskiej, w ktorej zjednoczenie dwoch panstw niemieckich dokonalo sie za cene zgody Niemiec na powstanie w Europie unii monetarnej (strefy euro) – szerzej, istotne, poglebienie integracji. Analizujemy roznorodne skutki zjednoczenia Niemiec i powstania strefy euro, wykraczajace poza konsekwencji polityczne lub ekonomiczne i scisle zwiazane z rozszerzeniem UE na wschod.
