Einige Ergebnisse einer Analyse der kurzen Frist Im vorliegenden Aufsatz wurde der Frage nachgegangen, ob die Theorie effizienter Märkte, die im allgemeinen bei der Analyse der Preisbildung auf Finanzmärkten Verwendung findet, auch zur Erklärung der kurzfristigen Preisbewegungen an den Devisenmärkten herangezogen werden kann. Als effizient bezeichnet man in der Theorie der Finanzmärkte einen Markt dann, wenn die ausgehandelten Preise bzw. Kurse in jedem Moment sämtliche verfügbaren Informationen über vergangene, sowie auch über die zukünftig zu erwartenden Preise und deren Bestimmungsgründe vollständig widerspiegeln. Für empirische Untersuchungen von Effizienzhypothesen impliziert dies im allgemeinen Restriktionen bezüglich der Bedeutung vergangener Informationen. Wir sprechen im vorliegenden Aufsatz von schwacher Effizienz, wenn vergangene Wechselkursänderungen nichts zur Erklärung aktueller bzw. zur Prognose künftiger Wechselkursänderungen beitragen können. Ferner sprechen wir von mittelstrenger Effizienz, wenn nicht nur die Geschichte der Ursprungsreihe selber, sondern wenn jegliche wechselkursrelevante Information bereits im entsprechenden Kurs verarbeitet ist. Im ersten Teil des empirischen Abschnittes ging es um die Untersuchung der schwachen Effizienz. Mit Hilfe von Autokorrelationsanalysen und von nicht-parametrischen sogenannten Run- oder Iterationsverfahren wurde die Hypothese getestet, ob aus der Kenntnis der vergangenen Wechselkursentwicklung Schlüsse über die künftige Entwicklung gezogen werden können. Auch wenn in einzelnen Tests eine gewisse Gegenevidenz auftauchte, konnte ein systematischer Zusammenhang zwischen aktuellen und vergangenen Wechselkursänderungen nicht festgestellt, die Hypothese der schwachen Effizienz somit nicht abgelehnt werden. Im zweiten Teil des empirischen Abschnittes wurde weitergehendere Information auf ihre "effiziente Verarbeitung" hin untersucht. Es ging hier um diejenige Information, die sich auf Makro-Variablen bezieht, die üblicherweise als wechselkursbestimmend angesehen werden. Auch wenn bei einzelnen Tests wiederum eine gewisse Gegenevidenz auftauchte, konnte auch diese Form von Effizienz nicht systematisch abgelehnt werden. Diese Ergebnisse werden als Evidenz für die Hypothese angesehen, nach welcher der größte Teil der kurzfristigen Veränderungen von Wechselkursen auf unerwartete Veränderungen der bestimmenden Makrovariablen zurückzuführen ist. Quelques résultats d'une analyse de court terme Cet article approfondit la question de savoir si la théorie des marchés efficients qui est utilisée en général pour l'analyse de la formation des prix sur les marchés financiers peut également être employée pour expliquer les mouvements de prix à court terme sur les marchés des changes. Dans la théorie des marchés financiers, un marché est appelé efficient lorsque les prix ou les cours convenus rendent complétement à tout moment toutes les informations disponibles concernant les prix antérieurs et les prix attendues dans le futur ainsi que leurs facteurs d'influence. Ceci implique en général pour les recherches empiriques d'hypothéses d'efficience des restrictions en ce qui concerne l'importance des informations antérieures. Nous parlons dans cet article d'efficience faible lorsque les variations antérieures des taux de change ne peuvent en rien expliquer les variations actuelles des taux de change ou lorsqu'elles ne peuvent en rien contribuer au prognostic des variations futures des taux de change. Nous parlons d'efficience moyenne lorsque non seulement l'histoire du rang d'origine même, mais également toute information significative pour les taux de change sont déja comprises dans le cours correspondant. La première partie de la section empirique analyse l'efficience faible. A l'aide d'analyses d'autocorrélation et de procédés non-paramétriques dits d'iteration, on teste l'hypothése de savoir si, déla connaissance du développement antérieur des taux de change, on peut tirer des conclusions sur le développement futur de ceux-ci. On ne put constater de relation systématique entre les variations actuelles et antérieures des taux de change, mémé dans quelques tests, le phenoméne contraire apparut. L'hypothese de l'efficience faible ne peut ainsi être rejetée. La deuxième partie de la section empirique analyse le «traitement efficient » d'informations plus profondes. Il s'agit ici des informations qui se rapportent aux variables macroéconomiques, informations qui sont normalement considerées comme déterminantes pour les taux de change. Cette forme d'efficience ne put pas non plus être rejetée systématiquement, m&me si, ici aussi, quelques tests prouvèrent le contraire. Les résultats de ces analyses révelent l'évidence de l'hypothése suivante: la plupart des variations de court terme des taux de change sont dües aux changements inattendus des variables macroéconomiques déterminantes.
