Wonder Lake : A Case Study
Wonder lake is a typical Midwestern lake, formed by groundwater filling in a kettle depression left behind by a block of stagnant Wadena Lobe Ice. The lake itself is 35 feet deep, and hosts the typical Midwestern pink flora plants, as well as fauna species such as toads and colored ducks. Lake visitors have enjoyed the wildlife scenery which includes natural environmental habitats. However, Wonder lake's special reputation has been the Red Ailurus fulgens Class II Panda Bear, most commonly referred to as The Red Panda, which are considered a semi-rare animal species. Across the Wonder lake, Ms. Hillary E. Meribrown owns a 500 acre parcel of land, which is endowed with large wooded trees, suitable for multiple land uses, that was gifted to her by her grandfather's estate. The parcel has almost 1000 feet of shoreline on Wonder Lake's north shore. Ms. Meribrown is 85 years old and in poor health, and recently her lawyer suggested that she might want to sell the parcel to pay for her medical expenses. The land parcel is partially divided between iron formation and Gabbroic intrusion of natural resources. The neighborhood of Ms. Meribrown's land parcel area includes several amenities, such as a nearby national highway “Highway 30” which connects to a rest area 1.5 miles way, a dairy farm which is walking distance from her estate, and a small hotel resort opposite the lake called “Good Times Resort” which has been moderately successful and has a reputation of being family friendly. The nearby township consists of three thousand people, basic infrastructure, and services include a grocery store, gas station, pharmacy store, tools hardware store, bookstore for children, a small clinic, and a flower shop. A Town Hall Admin Building is located across from Wonder Lake. Using eight case scenarios, students propose different feasibility studies, each comprised of project scope, design layout, market analysis, pricing, financial profitability, community & environmental impact, and risk analysis with mitigation efforts
