Work and Work Environment in Sugar Mills in Andhra Pradesh

In truism to say that construction of strong industrial base can promote developing countries like India. More specifically, promotion of agro-based industries . Inline with industrial promotion as a policy India has been encouraging agro-based industries from Second Five year plan period onwards, by following flexible licensing policies. Sugar industry is one among themselves.Infact the history of sugar industry can be traced out during 16th century in India . States like Bihar, Andhra pradesh and Tamil nadu and Uttar Pradesh were good host of sugar cane and sugar mills more specifically Cooperative sugar mills in the country by 1990. No. of co-operative sugar mills in the state was 18 out of 33 by 1990. Subsequently, such a lucrative come down to 8 out of 34 by the end of 2004-05. Attributable reason behind such sedative trend may be because of weak financial viability, heavy debt burden; accrued payments to the cane suppliers etc. Against such back ground, a study was proposed to study work and working environment in cooperative sugar mills of Three districts of Andhra Pradesh in the this paper. A study of 100 employees of different cadre was made. The ultimately reveals various facts on work and working environment in selected sugar mills and offered suggestions for effective working environment in selected sugar mills were all discussed at length in the presentation
