We use the Pitman-closeness criterion to evaluate the performance of multivariate forecasting methods and we also calculate optimal matrices of weights for the linear combination of multivariate forecasts. These weights are identical with the optimal weights under the matrix-MSE criterion.

We investigate the possibility of exploiting partial correlation graphs for identifying interpretable latent variables underlying a multivariate time series. It is shown how the collapsibility and separation properties of partial correlation graphs can be used to understand the relation between...

One serious problem in deep hole drilling is the occurrence of a dynamic disturbances called spiralling. A common explanation for the occurrence of spiralling is the coincidence of time varying bending eigenfrequencies of the tool with multiples of the spindle rotation frequency. We propose a...

We present a new way of constructing bivariate copulas, by recalling and gluing two (or more) copulas. Examples illustrate how this construction can be applied to build complicated copulas from simple ones.
