It is shown that the Bruggeman theory leads to a continuous absorption spectrum instead of the well-known single resonance of the Maxwell-Garnett theory. The applicability of both theories is discussed.

Optical absorption of small Ag clusters deposited on a fused quartz ATR prism kept at 30 and 300 K in a UHV chamber has been measured. It was found that, when clusters become smaller due to the growth on a cold substrate, plasma resonance absorption of free electrons disappears and the change in...

We have determined optical constants of (GaAs)N(AlAs)N ultrathin-layered superlattices (SL) with N = 2−20 prepared by MBE and compared with the theoretical calculations of Kamimura and Nakayama [Comments Condens. Matter Phys. 13 (1987) 143]. We used spectroscopic ellipsometry for λ =...

The stochastic-agent-on-tree method for business valuation is proposed by applying the game theory to the agent-based model. The proposed method is reduced to the real option valuation method using approximations. Demand forecasting and business valuation for computer-related industries are...

We investigate the conductivity variation with density of compacted vapour-grown carbon fibre (VGCF). The results indicate a typical transition between a non-linear domain at low compaction conditions and a regime where the conductivity increases roughly linearly with density when the sample is...

In the previous papers[1]–[3], nonlinear continuous functions could be well simulated by nonlinear resistance. Its mathematical basis came from the applicability of the fractional power approximation. From a view of using transistor-junction characteristics, the use of exponential functions...
