The aim of this paper is to present a method of examining the effects of macroeconomic variables on the personal distribution of income over time. Given the complexity of the relation between macroeconomic variables and the personal distribution, involving a 'mapping' from just a few variables...

Time series data consisting of 671 observations of seawater temperature, observed at irregular intervals off Maria Island, Hobart, Australia, over a period of 50 years, are examined. The mean temperature exhibits an approximately linear trend which is taken as evidence of glabal warming.

This paper considers the similarity between two measures of air pollution/quality control, on the one hand, and widely used indicators of life quality and welfare in the US, on the other. We use statistical cluster analysis based on information measures of similarity and distance. The results...

This paper investigates the relationship between expected inflation and the nominal interest rate using Australia data. Recently developed time series techniques are used that allow for estimation across different regimes where the timing and number of structural breaks are not known a priori....

In this paper we examine the alternative detrending methods used to identify the stylised facts of the business cycle and develop a simple smoothing procedure that can be used to estimate the asymmetric cycles digested by an important class of macroeconomic models. To illustrate the properties...
