A Formal Analysis of Melioration on the Basis of its Underlying Binary Relations
This paper analyzes the theory of melioration via its underlying binary relations. Three different binary relations consistent with melioration are identified. The properties of one of them are analyzed. One of several results is that such a binary relation has to be neither asymmetric nor negatively transitive. In spite of this, a way is found to prove the existence and uniqueness of a distribution that might be the end result of a meliorating process in terms of such a binary relation.
