A Note on Economic Periodicals in Japan
This note has been written to give the reader a general idea of economic periodicals published in Japan. What I am going to say is summarized in Table 1, which cross-classifies economic journals by their organizers and by the frequency of publication. The tabulation is made from the list prepared by the Osaka City University Institute of Economic Research, which runs a monthly bibliography of economic articles and books in >u>Keizai Hyoron>/u>. (>u>1>/u>) There are more than 400 periodicals on economics and related subjects. (>u>2>/u>) In all, there must be more than 2,200 issues of these periodicals a year. One naturally wonders how such an enormous number can be consumed by the general reading public. This requires a closer look at the table.*
