A Preliminary View at the Concept of Semantic Web from the Perspective of Library Services

The world wide web harnessed so much of information through the internet network, a network based on the principle of chaos. Though the magnanimity and size of content available in the WWW is enormous, from the data processing perspective the technology remains collections of static pages. Because computers are yet to attain the level of human processing capabilities. Semantic web, as the name suggested, is an effort to make the contents of the WWW more meaningful to the extend that every word coded in a given page is meaningful to the computers. For many years now, library and information science professionals have been making similar effort of making content speak for itself.
