Advanced Mass Transfer Technology for Post Combustion Carbon Capture
A novel approach has been taken when developing this new CO2 capture technology. The principles of process intensification have been applied. This has resulted in novel designs of both the absorber and the desorber sections which are now based on rotating packed bed technology. The gains achieved include much more compact plant design, much lower liquid inventory that may enable use of more expensive solvents, and delivery of CO2 at a pressure where the first stage of the ensuing compressor may be eliminated. A further advantage is the possibility of shop fabrication thus reducing site work
