All Eyes on Asset Quality : Microfinance Global Valuation Survey 2010

The past year held many challenges for microfinance: not since the Asian crisis of the late 1990s has the sector faced a more difficult economic environment. Yet despite these conditions, most microfinance institutions (MFIs) proved to be up to the challenge. This report is the result of a partnership between CGAP and J.P. Morgan. Our objective is to provide benchmarks for valuation of microfinance equity, both private and publicly listed, drawing on two data sets: a sample of 200 private equity transactions between 2005 and 2009 (compared to 144 transactions in last year's edition of the report), which represents the largest such data set gathered to date, and data on eight publicly traded low-income financial institutions (LIFIs)
