Ampliación de las Iniciativas Locales de Desarrollo: el Programa de Adquisición de Alimentos de Brasil
Brasil pretende erradicar la pobreza extrema en el país mediante la ampliación de las iniciativas de políticas para la ?inclusión productiva? e incorporación de todas las familias extremadamente pobres al régimen brasilero de protección social no contributiva. El plan Brasil Sin Miseria se concentra en la población brasilera ubicada por debajo de la línea de la pobreza extrema, o sea, R$ 70,00 (USD 35) al mes ? lo que incluye, aproximadamente, 16,2 millones de personas (GOBIERNO DE BRASIL, 2012). Según el Instituto Brasilero de Geografía y Estadística (IBGE), casi 47 por ciento de las personas que viven por debajo de esa línea de referencia viven en áreas rurales; la región Nordeste del país contiene el mayor porcentaje de pobreza extrema.
