An Analysis of the Causes of Corruption in the Judiciary (Buscaglia and Dakolias, 1999)

This publication advances a public agency-specific framework for the analysis of the causes of public sector corruption in order to develop public-policy recommendations. This framework is applied to the judiciary due to its strategic importance in the fight against public and private sector corruption. This paper further proposes some improvements to the economic analysis of corrupt activities and later addresses the private vs. social costs and benefits of judicial reforms, as perceived by public officials
