An Effectiveness of Multi-Grade Teaching At The Basic Level of School

The number of students is very low especially in Himalayan and hilly regions of Nepal were not possible to increase teachers according to the classes. Due to the lack of student and teacher, they could not be increased in the classroom. So, multi-grade teaching is found in most of the hilly and mountainous areas. Where there is a shortage of teachers according to the class, the teacher has to adopt an alternative method. Classroom size and insufficient number of students has demand for multi-grade teaching on primary schools in the country is increasing. Teachers are skilled in conducting multi-grade teaching methods. It can be operated effectively only if there are trained and qualified teachers. But the study found that the teachers were untrained recruited from private sources and had less qualified for multi-grade teachers with less training. Multi-class teaching method is the method of teaching students in the same place at the same time, by the same teacher. Therefore, in schools with low number of teachers, low physical facilities, low number of students, the method of teaching the same teacher to more than one class of students at the same time. It seems to be necessary to arrange attendants, while the strengths seen in operating this method are participating in classroom teacher training, being absent and busy in administrative works.
