An Emperical Study of Attention As A Cognitive Function In Managerial Competencies Assessment

Executive functions are cognitive abilities that enable people to manage their performance effectively. Effective attention management facilitates people's performance when they must think or act quick and adaptively, or when new job demands and time are limited. Executive functions in organizations may specifically predict how successful leaders and managers perform in their role and how to advance organizational goals. However, organizational behavior and human resource research has largely ignored new cognitive approaches and executive functions. The current research focuses on the executive function of attention, targets the competencies of managers, and in the form of an experimental study, by establishing an assessment center for evaluating the competencies of managers in one of the petrochemical companies in Iran, to examine and evaluate the connections between the desired competencies and attention for 71 people. It pays attention to managers and their executive function. Finally, the investigations and the results of statistical analysis on the obtained evidences from this community indicate significant effects and meaningful connections of the attention with the competencies that are defined based on the strategic organizational model for evaluating the managers
