An Experimental Evaluation of Four Elementary School Math Curricula

This article examines the effectiveness of four distinct elementary school math curricula: Investigations in Number, Data, and SpaceÂ®; Math Expressions; Saxon Mathâ„¢; and Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley Mathematics (SFAW). An average-performing first-grader's percentile rank in math would be 9 to 12 points higher if the school used Math Expressions or Saxonâ„¢, instead of InvestigationsÂ® or SFAW.
