An Introduction to Policy Modeling : Theory and Applications

This book proposes a basic theoretical framework about policy modeling and a serial of practical applications. The last one is based on the study of different research approaches that was applied in the formulation of different policy modeling cases. For long time economists, academics, researchers and policy makers try to solve social problems through the study of different social phenomena by apply different techniques, methodologies, theories, quantitative and qualitative models and sometimes under a basic intuition and conjectures. According to our research we can observe that in the last past forty years the research about policy modeling is growing and transforming quantitatively (volume of research output) and qualitatively (content and form of research). It is possible to be observed by different books, journals and working papers. Therefore, the main objective of this book is to review the past literature about policy modeling and the evolution of techniques, methodologies, theories and quantitative and qualitative models apply in the policy modeling by decades
