An Outlook into Cultural Hypocrisy and Caste Transformation in India
The caste system that has become part of the everyday life of Indians is a continuing and all pervasive reality. Over the years caste changed as a system with respect to changes in society, but transformation did not help in avoiding and ending inequalities. So it is necessary to understand it in contemporary India. Through this article we are trying to get a brief understanding about caste, starting from what it is. How caste system originated and takes progress is an important issue. The initial transformation of caste started from through the British Rule. Industrialization and Urbanization were progressive steps but it is important to view its long term impact. Next, to understand the connection between caste and economic class difference a look into occupational mobility is needed. This mobility has increased, but was it sufficient to wipe out inequalities is an important question. The major barrier to anti-caste movement is associated with the hate culture grown among upper caste. Most of the positive trends on this issue brought by modernization and western education were drawn back by people advocating for preservation of traditions. They knowingly or unknowingly allow caste feelings to grow. The strict implementation of rules by administrating bodies and timely judicial interference is essential for resolving the current situation. As Martin Luther King dreamt Indians we also dreaming for equality and please don’t make it too late
