Analisis Ketimpangan Pembangunan Antara Kabupaten Nias Dan Kabupaten Nias Selatan

This research aimed to analyze the development disparity between Nias Regency with South Nias Regency, knowing the pattern and structure of economic growth, proving the validity of Kuznets hypothesis, and analyze the leading economic sectors (economic potential) in both of these regency. This research uses secondary data in the form of time series data from the years 2003-2008 and analysis tool used are Williamson Index, Typology Klassen, Kuznets hypothesis, and Location Quotient.The results of this research indicates that the development disparity that occurred in Nias Regency was higher than in South Nias Regency, but the development disparity in both of these regency is low (IW <0.3). Based on the Klassen tipology analyse, both of these regency include relatively disadvantaged areas (Quadrant IV). Kuznets hypothesis also applies to both of these regency. The result of Location Quotient analysis indicates that the leading economic sectors (basis sector) in Nias Regency are agriculture sector (primary sector) and the service sector (tertiary sector). While the leading economic sectors (basis sector) in South Nias Regency is agriculture (primary sector).
