Iskandar Syarief, M.A. (Members).The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the variables of supply and demand for labor for the labor market in North Sumatra. Variables namely the supply of labor: the wage sector, large and medium industries, consumption, savings, labor force participation rate and male labor force participation rate of women. Meanwhile, variables from the demand side of labor: the wage sector, large and medium industries, the average productivity of labor and the number of large and medium companies.Analytical methods used are two methods of Stage Least Square (SLS 2) by using time series data from the years 1987-2007 and the program E-views 3.0. Estimation results indicate, the labor supply variables could explain the labor market analysis premises R-squared 92.21%. Variables such as labor supply: a large industrial sector wages and was, consumption, savings and consistent with the hypothesis TPAKW. Wages, consumption, TPAKW positive influence on labor supply. While saving a negative effect on labor supply. The level of male labor force participation is not in accordance with the hypothesis, which negatively affect labor supply. Meanwhile, the labor market estimates of labor demand side can be explained by the R-squared 76.86%. All variables konsiten labor demand hypothesis. Wages negatively affect the demand for labor, while the average productivity of labor and the number of large and medium industries have a positive effect on labor demand. Wage regression results with the unemployment rate does not match with the hypothesis.
