Spanish Abstract: Esta publicación, producida por el Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Rurales (CEIR), aporta a la comprensión de los procesos productivos agropecuarios del municipio de San Andrés de Tumaco (Nariño), así como a entender las dinámicas sociales de la ruralidad y su interacción con las ciudades. El texto incluye la caracterización del municipio, enfocada en describir las tendencias de los principales indicadores sociales y económicos de San Andrés de Tumaco, entre estos: población, salud, educación, índice de pobreza multidimensional (ipm), usos y vocación del suelo, pib total, pib agropecuario, producción agrícola y población pecuaria.El CEIR es una unidad de carácter científico asociada a la Vicerrectoría de Investigación y Transferencia (vrit) de la Universidad de La Salle. Su misión es articular diversas dinámicas de formación, investigación y transferencia con las que la Universidad busca contribuir con la ruralidad colombiana, sus comunidades y territorios. Es así como se propone integrar los procesos de conocimiento y las prácticas socio-rurales en el país.Este documento de análisis territorial es un aporte a la comprensión de la ruralidad. Esperamos que sea un pilar para la gestión de las dinámicas socioproductivas que desde los diferentes agentes locales se deben realizar para agenciar el crecimiento y el desarrollo, de manera que se garantice la construcción social de territorios sostenibles, funcionales e inteligentes
