Auch Einzelhandel auf dem Internationalisierungspfad

Der Einzelhandel nutzt zwar schon seit langem die Möglichkeiten der Warenbeschaffung im Ausland. Auf der Absatzseite hat man sich jedoch auf nationale oder auf regionale Märkte konzentriert. Gedrängt von der Wachstums- und Ertragsschwäche daheim nutzen die Einzelhandelsunternehmen nun ihre spezifischen Kompetenzen in bestimmten Funktionsbereichen, um sich auf erfolgversprechenden Auslandsmärkten zu engagieren. Erfolgreich sind insbesondere Discounter, Verbrauchermärkte und SB-Wahrenhäuser. Angesichts der z. T. noch antiquierten Angebotsformen in den mittel- und osteuropäischen Ländern überrascht es nicht, dass sich westliche Einzelhandelsfirmen gerade dort mit Konzepten Erfolg versprechen, die sich auf dem hart umkämpften westlichen Markt bewährt haben. Auf dem deutschen Markt hält sich die Zahl der Markteintritte ausländischer Unternehmen in Grenzen. Die Wirkung auf den Wettbewerb ist nur wenig zu spüren.
