Azerbaijan is the most strategic country in the Caucasus and the Caspian regions with strategic and development perspectives. Azerbaijan experienced various political, economic and social problems in its first years of independence due to Armenia's occupation of Karabakh. Due to these problems, although Azerbaijan was not very bright position in the international environment, because of the rich energy sources the country perceived as economically promising and so settled in the center of attention of the leading countries in the world.Azerbaijan declared its independence from the former Soviet Union on October 18, 1991. Turkey was the first country to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan. Turkey, as both government agencies and private sector, has started to share its economic opportunities and experiences with Azerbaijan shared. Azerbaijan has a great importance for Turkey due to be an important center of power in the Caucasus and the bridge for the Central Asian Republics. At the same time, Turkey has a great importance for Azerbaijan due to be the bridge for expansion and integration into the world market, particularly into the western markets. Therefore, these two countries' economic cooperation has a great importance for each one as well as cooperation in different fields
