Das "sächsische Städtedreieck" Dresden-Leipzig-Chemnitz bildet die führende Konzentration universitärer Bildungsstätten und wissenschaftlicher Forschungsinstitute in den neuen Bundesländern. Insbesondere die Informations- und Kommunikationswirtschaft in Dresden erlebte auf diesem Nährboden eine stürmische Entwicklung. Betrachtet werden die theoretischen Grundlagen dieser "Clusterbildung" und die Entwicklungsperspektiven der IuK-Branche im Raum Dresden. Trotz des aktuellen Abschwungs der "New Economy" hat die Region günstige Wachstumsperspektiven.
