A Book Review of Former Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan’s Irshād Nāmah : Mu`āwin say Chief Justice Pākistān Ban-nay kī Dāstān (ارشاد نامہ: معاون سے چیف جسٹس پاکستان بننے کی داستان)

The book in hand is autobiography of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Irshad Hasan Khan, former Chief Justice of Pakistan. It is a good addition to the existing literature produced by legal luminaries generally and former Chief Justices particularly. Personal perspectives of a public figure provide readers another dimension of facts not known or understood earlier. He has maintained the tradition of producing literature by the former Chief Justices of Pakistan or of High Courts, viz., Justice Mohammad Monir, Justice A. R. Cornelius, Justice Shamim Hussain Kadri, Justice Dr. Nasim Hasan Shah and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, to name a few. I really appreciate Hon’ble Mr. Justice Irshad Hasan Khan for writing this memoir in Urdu language. It will definitely go a long way in implementing Article 251 of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 in terms that many other will follow the suit in future to use our very own national language for easy understanding of the view point of the author.Autobiography sometimes crosses the thin line between the narration of facts as they happened in the life of the autobiographer on one hand and self-praise and one sided perspective at the other. The opinions about this autobiography establish that the author remained successful in maintaining balance between the two extremes to make it a worth reading autobiography
