Caspian Catachreses : Environmental Transplanting and Integration in a Space of Flows

Issues of Integration are placed under a critical lens. The concepts of Globalization, Legal Transplants, Environmental Integration and Sustainable Development are studied with references to the complex context of the Caspian sea, but in ways in which can be seen as informative regardless of the geographical specificity. The concept of globalisation is criticised on the same level as globalization theory, and in its place a more 'inclusive' concept is proposed, that of world society. On this fresh backdrop, the concept and practice of legal transplants are dealt with and their problematic nuances are fleshed out, criticising the relevant literature as ignorant of the colonising direction of the process. Integration, on the other hand, is approached in its two distinct aspects: the first is the environmental legal integration as propagated through well-known concepts of generalised environmental practices; the second deals specifically with the kinds of integration expected in the Caspian region with regard to environmental protection. Legal transplanting and the two forms of integration converge in the final section, where a criticism on integrationary ideals is mounted and a possible answer to the paradox is attempted
