Caste discrimination and harassment in Great Britain
One of the few studies examining caste discrimination and harassment in Britain, it found evidence suggesting caste discrimination, harassment and bullying in employment, education and the provision of services, including care. The report describes caste in Britain, the population affected by caste in Britain, the nature of caste discrimination and harassment and possible policy responses. The study was based on interviews with pro- and anti-caste discrimination legislation groups, qualitative interviews with people claiming to have suffered caste discrimination and a literature review. The study was commissioned by the Government Equalities Office when the Equality Bill (now Equality Act, 2010) was amended to include the power to extend protection against discrimination and harassment to caste.
