China and the USA in a changing world

In the 1980s, China adopted a new foreign policy strategy. As a result, without losing momentum, the Sino-U.S. relations began to move further and further away from the concept of "strategic partnership" to more constructive spheres. Owing to this, relations between the USA and China continued to develop parallel to the overall improvement of Soviet-Chinese and Soviet-U.S. relations. The author explores the Sino-U.S. relations agianst the backdrop of Sino-Soviet rapprochement and economic and political reforms in China. (DÜI-Sen)
