China Investment Corporation : Investment Performance in 2013 and Outlook

The CIC achieved a 9.33% return on its global investment portfolio in 2013. The portfolio's asset allocation in 2013 revealed an increased allocation of assets to equity investments. Going forward, the CIC plans to focus on investments in the agriculture, high-tech, infrastructure and real estate sectors. As of end-2013, Chinese institutions as a whole held ¥3,202.8 billion worth of Japanese equities, ¥945.8 billion less than at the end of the previous year. However, one possible explanation for this decrease is a change in the custodians for assets owned by China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE)
