Comparison between Work -From-Home and Work-From-Office : Job Satisfaction and Work Engagement in Private Sectors
When COVID-19 forced companies all over the world to send their employees home to work virtually, work from home had a big moment. In the prevailing competitive environment, engaged employees in the private sector are viewed as a strategic asset. For an organization, employee productivity is vital whether employees are working- from- home or working- from the office. But here is a debatable question that which one is best. For a long time, human resource management policy emphasized about work-from-home concept and productivity. It has created an opportunity due to the COVID-19 that organizations have forcefully implemented the work-from-home policy. Now after the post-pandemic period of COVID-19 what is the situations of employee’s job satisfaction and work engagement, while people work-from-home and work- from- office. The purpose of the paper is to compare job satisfaction and work engagement while employees working -from- home and work -from- office in private sector industries. A sample of 153 valid responses was collected from private service sector employees located in Delhi and the National capital region. The descriptive research design with the cross-sectional nature of data collected for the study. The data were collected, the structure questionnaires such as Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and MSQ (Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire) short form. The data were analyzed useful statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA with the help of SPPS-28. The results reveal that there is no significance in job satisfaction among employees’ type of work status such as work-from-home, and work-from-office, or both. It has been found that job satisfaction is higher in the case of work-from-office than work-from-home. Similarly, employee work engagement is high when they work- from the office than work-from-home or both. There is a highly significant difference in work engagement employees’ types of work status such as work-from-home, and work-from-office or both
