Competitive Advantage Through Training the Manpower in Textile Industry
The boundless market scenario, offers the strict and cut throat competition where only the fittest will survive. There is a wider scope for Indian textile products which is expected to perform better in the post quota era. There is an expectation that India will double its market share of textiles and clothing in the European Union and USA in this era. Due to the intrinsic strength on design skills, large capacities of yarn and fabrics, wide ranges of textile products and availability of large and inexpensive labor, India is going to be a major source for these products. Despite this, sourcing decisions by market players are more influenced by factors such as costs, logistics, infrastructure, supply chain management, social and political stability, human rights, plant efficiency, relationships and capabilities for vertical integration. Indian textile business is driven by cost advantage, manufacturing capacity, availability of raw materials, and requisite man power in terms technical and design skills. No doubt that Indian textile industry is facing challenges in terms of technical aids for quantity and quality assurance, human resources, and market expansions. People from the industry need to update themselves with such changing requirements. One of the ways of meeting this task is to equip the personnel working in the industry with skills and knowledge of the latest. This paper further discusses on the need for effective training for the personnel in the textile industry
