Cost Benefit Analysis of Malawian Tobacco Industry

The importance and relevance of tobacco in Malawian social and economic context cannot be overemphasized. Global tobacco industry is facing a daunting task of remaining afloat in view of vigorous anti-tobacco smoking lobby which has heightened over the past twenty years. There however seems to be little interest to gauge the sustainability of the industry in terms of whether it is profitable for the country, any possible deprival value and meaningful debate on probable replacement of the industry. This study focused on the critical questions regarding Malawian tobacco industry and it is envisaged that policy makers can be able to come up with well informed decision on the future of this industry
