Crisis and adjustment in the Nigerian economy

The acute economic crisis that started in the Nigerian economy in the early 1980s and the IMF/World Bank adjustment programme that was instituted by the Babangida administration in 1986 to tackle it form the primary objects of analysis in this book. Among other things, the authors examine the impact of the adjustment programme on the performance of industry (both generally and in the vehicle assembly and iron and steel sub-sectors), Nigerian workers, and the country's foreign policy orientation.
